Just when I thought Stargate Universe had stopped irking me.
...Why does this thread on Gateworld (shut up, I don't go there usually, but there were fifty bajillion Adam Baldwin Google alerts in my inbox and I got curious) proposing that Adam Baldwin heads up the cast of Stargate Universe piss me off so much?

Well, let me tell you: People are actually hoping Chuck flops in its second season, so that Adam will potentially be available for Universe.

Yeah, well, you know what? Fuck you and the 'gate you rode in on. Since when is it okay to wish that a great show that's currently in production fails so that a well-loved actor can be out of work just in case the casting director for a show that isn't in production yet doesn't have his or her head as far up the producers' asses as the producers do?

I swear I am awake! Random, but awake.
Oh, Azureus. You broke math! (It's trying to tell me that 5.29GB is 82.6% of 4.44GB.) It would have been easier, faster, and more accurate to rip Torchwood s1 from my DVDs myself, I think. Meh.

So last night when I went into work I was all "OMGZ YEY TOMORROW OFF WOO" and now I'm all "BLARGH CLOSING WITH BITCHFACE TOMORROW." I barely know this girl, but she irks the SHIT out of me because the other day she was rude to me FOR NOT READING HER MIND. She came up to the cafe on her break and waved her paycheck at me. "Can you do this here?" she asked. We do cash employee payroll checks in the store, so I called my manager because a) I don't know how to do that and b) my drawer was brand spankin' new. He says to have her meet him at the front of the store and he'll cash it for her there, but she gets all huffy at me and she's like, "I JUST WANTED YOU TO SCAN THIS (there is apparently a barcode on our check stubs? Nobody tells me anything) INSTEAD OF PUNCHING IN MY DISCOUNT NUMBER!" And... I was supposed to intuit that from the paycheck waving and the poor communication skills? Anyway, not looking forward to closing with her. Honestly, as much as I like the person whose shift I picked up, I think I would have passed up the extra hours (even though she was trying to find a replacement because she's sick) if I'd known the shift was with the person it is.

When people make snide-ish comments to a blog's RSS feed on LJ, they are not expecting the blogger to see/reply, y/y?

I forgot how awesome it is to RP with [info]secondalto. We've got a fun little post-The Shrine story going. I sunk her battleship. \o/ If all goes well I might have a Simon/Jayne RP going here pretty soon, too. I missed RPing. I kind of really want a Chuck/Casey RP, but I'm not sure which I'd rather play. I identify more closely with Chuck, but I have so much fun getting into Casey's head. If anyone's interested, drop me a comment.

Someone should do a study on the long-term effects of living in a state which borders Canada. I put ketchup on my scrambled eggs yesterday and... it was tasty. I think it might be Canadiation sickness. Who knows what I'll be putting ketchup on next. Does anyone know if it's fatal, or if I'll just start becoming more polite?

Excuse me, but how psyched am I to hear Ausiello refer to House and Wilson as a "same-sex couple" and Wilson as "the love of [House's] life"?

WTF.
Dear Mom,

I know they're your brother and sister-in-law, and you haven't seen them in a year. But they're my godparents, as well as my aunt and uncle, and I haven't seen them in at least twice that. You could have invited me along. I mean, you invited [info]dysisreynne along. Inviting me and Dad to meet you all for supper just doesn't cut the mustard, because some of us (read: me) have to work at four.

So, frankly, fuck you.

No love because I'm still seething over your temper tantrum this morning,
Me

‘Chuck’ intends to come out swinging

Originally published at The Intersect. Please leave any comments there.

Josh Schwartz talks to USA Today about sexing up Chuck, and this blogger is genuinely confused by the following quote:

Sexing up Chuck could provide a bigger audience, but that could cut into the audience for Schwartz’s CW series Gossip Girl, the sexed-up teen soap that happens to compete in the same Monday time slot as Chuck. “The truth is, the time period is very competitive,” says Schwartz, who splits time between both. “But the shows have different audiences. Gossip Girl is strong with women. It could use a few more dudes (as viewers). Chuck has a strong male following. It could used [sic] more (women).”

I realized, after reading this interview, that I don’t really know any male Chuck fans, through fandom or personally. I know they exist, but I honestly had assumed that because all the Chuck fans I interact with regularly were women, that we made up the majority of the fan base.

The article goes on to add that the season premiere is designed to be sort of a second pilot, and mentions that “Chuck’s first-year growth [...] allowed for bigger budgets this season and has made it more attractive for guest stars.”

I don’t know about the rest of you, but to me, all this publicity is making the next 35 days seem excruciatingly long!

FLAILING ATTACK OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I don't know how much truth there is to this, but thanks to phillyheat_1 for sharing it with the RDSS Yahoo group:

The BBC has apparently commissioned a new one-hour special episode of classic British sci-fi comedy "Red Dwarf" to be filmed October 2008 according to Robert Llewellyn at the KTCS9 20th Anniversary convention this evening.

Yes, I just crossposted the hell out of this.

Nerd Herd gets love in opening credits!

You should all read this interview from the Los Angeles Daily News (with Out in Hollywood’s Greg Hernandez) and take from it what you will, but the bit that stood out to me (and filled my fangirl heart with love for the Herd and its lead Nerd) was the following potentially spoilery chunk of text:

FANGIRL FIA!
Today, I had two customers, one after the other, of whom one was a Browncoat and the other was a Nerd Herder. Earlier, Allie (one of my coworkers) and I had been singing the Sawyer song, and I think I'm going to have to torrent and catch up on Lost now, since I haven't really watched since the first season and all the stuff I've been hearing about it lately has been really intriguing. Another of my coworkers, Jeff, is a House fan. He's young, impressionable, and straight, so I think I will keep my opinions on House/Wilson to myself for a while.

Yesterday, I was walking past the music department when I heard a customer exclaim with glee, "They have VOYAGER!" When she visited the café later, we commiserated about our shared love of the red-headed step-child of the Trek franchise. She, like everyone I've mentioned it to, was amused by my description of Voyager as "Gilligan's Island in space."

...I just gave into the desire to make an obscure Firefly reference in the latest chapter of Chuck vs. the Crazy Alien Vampires. *facepalms* I'm so ashamed of myself!!! I blame Morgan.
